Call for Applications – The #Legacy500 Elite Sponsorship/Scholarship Programme and Essay Competition, 2026/2027
The Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation [JASAN Foundation] announces the 3rd edition of its “#Legacy500 Elite Sponsorship/Scholarship Programme and Essay Competition” for final-year Law students of all Law Faculties of Federal and State Universities in Nigeria. Interested 500 Level / Final Year Law Students and prospective Nigerian Law School candidates who graduated within the last 24 months are invited to write an essay and provide a short video recording on the topic:
“From Opportunity to Impact: How Can Sponsorship and Structured Mentorship Develop the Next Generation of Lawyers in Nigeria?”
This topic invites the Student Applicant to look beyond why sponsorship matters and ask how it should work. Applicants should consider how financial support can be joined to structured mentorship, professional exposure, skills development and measurable outcomes; the responsibilities of beneficiaries, mentors and sponsoring institutions; and how such programmes can be made accessible, sustainable and accountable. It is also an opportunity for the applicant to reflect on his/her own educational future and propose practical ideas that could shape the support offered to the next generation of lawyers.
As part of the Programme, applicants stand the chance to win sponsorship/scholarship opportunities to attend the mandatory training at the Nigerian Law School [Bar Part II] to fulfil the requirements to be called to the Nigerian Bar and pursue their legal practice dreams. This scholarship covers the tuition for the one-year programme, relieving the personal financial burden of legal education.
